In a new post for The Farm Club, I preview Sunday’s game between Indianapolis and Arizona.
Though it didn’t look to be the case when the NFL schedule was released, the Colts game against Arizona looks to be one of week 12′s most intriguing contests.
The host Cardinals (6-4) have quietly emerged as playoff contenders, and are currently on a three-game winning streak. A strong defense has led the way, as according to Football Outsiders’ DVOA ratings, Arizona possesses the league’s top defense. In terms of traditional metrics, they are tied for the eighth-best scoring defense, and have allowed the fourth-fewest yards per play.
The Colts (7-3) rebounded nicely from a blowout loss to the Rams in week 10, beating Tennessee 30-27 last Thursday. After falling behind 17-3 to the Titans, Indianapolis scored 20 unanswered points and 24 points in the second half to pull ahead.
The team now has a three-game lead over Tennessee in the AFC South and will now have its eye on seeding for the AFC playoffs. Indianapolis is 13th in team DVOA and 14th in the ANS rankings.
