Brazil vs. Spain: FIFA Confederations Cup Final Preview

In a new post for The Farm Club, I preview the Brazil-Spain Confederations Cup final.

Hosts Brazil will take on Spain in the Confederations Cup final, as the world will finally get to see these two superpowers square off.

In the 2009 Confederations Cup, both teams appeared to be on a collision course with each other, but Spain were upset in the semifinals by the United States. A year later, Spain did its part and made the final, but Brazil fell to the Netherlands in the quarterfinals.

The battle will serve as a good barometer for a talented, but young, Brazil team looking to dethrone Spain as the kings of world soccer in 2014.

Both teams reached the final in dramatic fashion, with Brazil advancing over Uruguay 2-1 in the semifinals via an 86th-minute Paulinho goal. Spain triumphed in their semifinal despite being tested by Italy, advancing in a penalty shootout after a scoreless draw…
